Who out
there can remember the original (actually second year) Monday
Night Football lineup with Frank Gifford, Howard Cosell, and
Dandy Don Meredith??
You got
decent play-by-play from Gifford, and fun comments and insights
from Cosell and Meredith.
Flash forward
to today. You get boring play-by-play from Al Michaels, silence
from Frank Gifford, and inane comments (always) from Dan Dierdorf
about offensive line play. And, these guys are making lots of
money.
I wonder
how many ABC-TV watchers are turning down the sound, and are
listening to CBS Radio??
I mean,
comparing Howard David's play-by-play to Al Michael's is like
comparing shooting the rapids on the Colorado River to watching
paint dry.
Two questions---
How would
you like to be an ABC-TV advertiser?
Do you think
that the viewers really turn the sound back on to listen to
the commercials?
If the radio
guys are better--which they are--why do the TV guys make more
money? OR--put another way....Why aren't the radio guys doing
TV??
I'd like
to hear your thoughts.
