JOHN MORA PRESENTS: THE UNPUBLICIZED GASES WE CAN DETECT

John (sales@gasdetection.com) told me that it would be a great idea to list some of the gases we can detect, that many of you might not know about.

Here goes...

GAS MEASURING RANGES (ppm)

Bromine 0-2 to 0-10
Ethylene 0-5 to 0-50
Hydrogen 0-50 to 0-3000 (not intended for LEL)
Hydrogen bromide 0-2 to 0-50
Ozone 0-2 to 0-10
Propylene oxide 0-5 to 0-50

MORE ON THE NOMAD DATA LOGGER

Even though the brochure isn't finished, and the web page doesn't yet have the screen shots, this product is selling!!

It could be because the price is right ($495) and the features are terrific.

To refresh your memory, the Nomad is our neat little device that takes a 4-20 mA or 0-100 mV or 0-2.5V input, and samples it at a user adjustable rate (once per second to once per 10 hours). After the sampling is done, the data is downloaded to your computer, and you get

** A full data dump

** Cool graphs featuring zoom and auto-scaling

** Statistical calculations

If you have a fast Internet connection, and you want to see some informative screen shots (four 800K bmp files) before they get into a brochure or even the website, send an e-mail to

nomad.screens@gasdetection.com

Of course, you can also contact our sales department.

ARC-MAX BROCHURE IS NOW AVAILABLE

This is the one you've been waiting for.

Interscan's famous data acquisition, archiving, and reporting system has been completely updated, and the new brochure gives a great introduction to this feature-rich package.

Arc-Max can accommodate virtually any kind of sensor, and produces the best occupational health type reports in the industry.

Many of our customers are tracking ethylene oxide exposures in hospital central service areas, and would like to log temperature, and such discrete inputs as doors opening. Doing this got a bit sticky in the old version, since ALL inputs were subject to occupational health reporting (8 hr averages, STEL's) even though these parameters were meaningless for non toxic gas inputs.

Well, now you can mix and match. Using the flexible tag database, you can send the occupational health stuff to the Arc-Max reporter, and track the other inputs via the separate recorder function of the program.

When we say there is nothing like Arc-Max, we aren't just blowing smoke. And, with a price covering all input hardware and software starting at just $1800 for a two-input set-up, you couldn't match the features with another package at three times the price!!

Contact us for a brochure and demo CD.

Remember. Both the Nomad and Arc-Max are applicable to ANY measuring instrument or system, not just Interscan's.

WINDOWS TIPS AND TRICKS (Courtesy of winfiles.cnet.com)

*** Having problems trying to find those programs that load but are not in your startup folder? Try looking in the registry. Run Regedit and look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, Run or Run service. This is where things like system agent, NetMeeting, the active movie check and other such things hang out.

*** To delete your password information, find the .PWL file in the Windows directory with your username in it (such as STEVEJ.PWL). Delete it and restart Windows.

*** To secure a folder you don't make it read only or hidden. Those might slow down the normal user but not the power user. If you really want the folder to be secure just set an extended character in the name. To do this, go to the command prompt and change to the directory where you want a new subdirectory. type "211211". The directory created should look like this in dos mode "+211" or maybe something different. But now go out to windows and try to access this through explorer and you get an error that the folder _211 does not exist, but you still can see it. The reason why I name my folder "211" is so that I can remember the extended character used in the folder. This is more of a bug than a tip or trick.
